A little update on the educational dilemma we've been having at our house, since a few people have asked:
After much deliberation, prayer, meetings with the district & both schools, speaking with other parents, and of course, consultation with our daughter, we have decided to send Audrey to private school next year. It was a big decision for us, and I'm glad it's over with. We're so excited for Audrey to have a better experience and we're just so glad there are other options in our neighborhood.
I spoke with her kindergarten teacher the other night, and, after laughing about and discussing the proboscis incident and the fact that Audrey now conducts reading time for the class about half the time, she agreed that private school was best for Audrey, too. She said, "I wouldn't really feel comfortable telling you to do that, since I work at public school, but I think you're making the right choice." So now it's just a matter of her being approved by the school's Admissions Committee (not that big of a deal, apparently).
So school uniforms, smaller classes, daily PE, spanish lessons, etc., here she comes!
If you want details on the ins and outs of this whole ordeal, drop me a call or an email. It's not scandalous or anything, it's just a long story, and not something I really feel like talking about publicly.

Good for you! Everyone has to make a choice based on their circumstances. Good luck! She'll knock their socks off!
yay! she's going to love it!
she really will love it - perhaps she can convince them to anve every day library instead of PE...you know, like choosing your electives in HS. can't wait to see photos of her in her little uniform!
sigh. i have i am struggling with the same question - sigh again.
i'm sure it's such a relief to have decided.
ya, audrey is pretty unique. private school will be great for her! you guys are such great parents!
Way to go; it's a tough decision isn't it! We went through that with our firstborn too, and ended up going with a "traditional" school... still part of the public school district but accelerated curriculum. Uniforms are really great actually; makes things much more simple! I loved that proboscis story.
Can't wait to hear about how much she loves it!
And I can't wait to see the cute uniform.
I'm glad you were able to decide and feel good about! She will love it, and I want to see pics of her uniform too!
