May Fun

Parker and Audrey were able to nominate their teachers for our stake's annual Teacher Appreciation event. Parker nominated Mrs. Gayle Brown and Audrey nominated Mrs. Wendy Larriba (though she got sick at the last minute and couldn't attend).

Audrey had her Spring piano recital.

We had some beautiful nights at the baseball fields. Parker played on the Braves and Miles on the Rangers.

Parker learned to shave.

Miles received his Arrow of Light award at Cub Scouts.

Parker played a gig with his band from Creative Soul.

These guys escaped from something.

Miles playing with kids from scouts.

Parker had a rank advancement.

Neal and Andy had tank conferences.

Parker started teaching guitar lessons.

Pretty sunset walks.

Parker Finishes Eighth Grade

Parker finished off three years at EA Young Academy this month! We had a great experience there, but he is headed to the public high school in the fall.

A weekend in Athens

We always love revisiting the old Shelby Chapel that Neal's great grandparents built in the 1890s in Athens, Texas. Their infant sone was the first one buried here and the chapel and cemetery grew up around him. Every Memorial Day, the local descendants gather for a service in the church and a potluck lunch. We are proud to be among them, representing the Horn family!

We also picked some lovely blueberries at Echo Springs Blueberry Farm. We brought bushels home!

Mother's Day

When I was growing up, I was not a good babysitter. I wasn't great with kids and never really thought I would take to mothering. So I made plans that involved careers and education and travel. Marriage and family sounded nice, but I never felt like they were guaranteed and so I shied away from planning on them. Little did I know that by the time I was 20, I would have found a man who loved me and who was easy to love. When Audrey was placed in my arms a couple of years later, God whispered to my heart that being a mother was truly my purpose. It is where my joy is found and where my dreams are fulfilled. I understand God's love more fully and I need it more than ever. I literally do not know who I would be without these kids and I wouldn't have it any other way. They are my most prized possession and my greatest joy. Don't ever leave, guys!

If you know me, you know I am super sentimental, so these little thoughts about me that Miles wrote in his gift he made at school mean the world to me. Who knew little boys could be so perceptive? Plus, teeny handwriting.

Band Banquet

Audrey's cute friends, Aleah and Nikel, are in marching band and they have a big, fancy banquet at the end of the school year. They spend the night at the Great Wolf Lodge and party! They were cute to invite Madie and Audrey to join them! They had a great time!
