Events and things

At Audrey's school, they have formed a micro-society. They have their own currency, they have applied for jobs, they receive paychecks, and use a banking system. Twice a year, they hold a Market Day, where they can buy and sell wares and services. Audrey sold her artwork, both completed pieces and commission pieces. She also painted faces.

Here she is painting a football on our Bishop's face. His kids go to the same school. :)

Dr. Horn cleaned the kids' teeth and applied some sealants to their molars. It's always nice to have that done, though you'd think it would happen more often! But I guess that's the way it is with any job. You only want to do the job when you have to! Optional cleanings are a lot harder to make a priority.

Here is Audrey at her school's Duct Tape Shindig. The kids were supposed to make their clothes out of duct tape, and then we had a dance. Lots of fun!

Anniversary!

Neal and I celebrated our 15th anniversary! We are so blessed to have found each other in the mass of eligible people in Provo back in 1997. Being married to Neal is always lots of fun. He makes me laugh, his animals have stopped making me crazy (for the most part), and we love to make plans for the time we have together. Our latest: buy or build a pretty little stone house on several acres someplace not too far away. Or add on to this house. Or do nothing. We are content!

We had some fun concert tickets for two weekends in a row, so we capitalized the second time around and stayed overnight in a hotel in Dallas. We went to the temple at 6 the next morning, so it was a quick night after the Head and the Heart concert. But so fun. I love spending time with Neal.

Johnny Marr, from the Smiths and other bands. A great show!

Neal has a high-pressure job. So we let him sleep if he falls asleep. Even if it is like this.

The Head and the Heart. Loved it.

November Fun

Some recent happenings:

Audrey and I had a temple trip with the youth, so Miles was able to tag along to the Webelos meeting. They were learning about the color wheel, and our genius leaders decided that frosting cookies would keep the boys interested. I think it worked!

Miles had his last baseball games with the Tigers. He had a great season!

Lazy H Farm has been gaining livestock. We ordered six one-day old chickens, and we now have 11 Chinese Button Quail. Neal is still working on a habitat for them outside. Until then, we are having fun with them in the house.

Punkin Chunkin

Audrey's school was started by and is staffed with incredibly creative and quirky people. So rather than having a regular old Halloween carnival, they held a "Punkin' Chunkin'" where families and students were challenged to create a pumpkin catapult on the fly, in about 45 minutes, with limited materials and tools. There was a chili cook-off, too. Our catapult did okay, but some people had better engineering minds than we did and they were able to seriously launch their mini-pumpkins.

Good times at EA Young!

Halloween Festivities

As goes the custom these days, Halloween is a week-long event. From the Storybook Character Day at the elementary school, to the Trunk-or-Treat at the church, to the family party with friends to the actual day of trick-or-treating, at least we can say that we get mileage out of our costumes.

Shadow Man, Frodo and a Lord of the Rings Elf at our friends' party.

Audrey having her fortune told at the same party.

Neal and Miles worked on this Lego Ninjago pumpkin at a pumpkin carving party over the weekend.

Parker and his buddies, Jonathan and Matthew. We had a fun night trick-or-treating with some friends who live in a denser, more illuminated neighborhood. Now bring on Thanksgiving!
