Grateful Sunday

I've decided to do a gratitude post each Sunday, to start the week off in a good mood, and to help me stay aware of just how wonderful this life of mine is turning out to be. This week, I'm grateful for:

  • being able to sit next to Neal in Sunday School for the first time in THREE years.
  • only bringing 2 bags to church with me, instead of 3. (I was released from Primary today.)
  • the philosophy at our house that eating out one night each weekend is totally allowed.
  • Audrey and Parker, who are the best of friends and forgive each other (and me) very easily.
  • Miles, who happens to look really cute in cargo pants.
  • my blogs.
  • Girl Scout cookies. I ordered seven boxes yesterday.
  • my washing machine, without which I would be even more bogged down by laundry. (Can you imagine hand washing loads and loads every week? I don't know how moms of the past did it.)
  • our credit cards, which have served us well, but which are now permanently out of our wallets.
  • my smart, handsome husband, who works really hard and doesn't complain, even when he has to work on Saturdays.
A couple of goals for the week:
  1. Finish The Bonesetter's Daughter
  2. Publish a post on my Parker family history blog
  3. Make a weekly housework cleaning/chore schedule

Let me know what you think about The Bonesetter's Daughter. I have heard it's good. A good book club read?

Love the cargo pants! Sugardoodle.net has some great ideas for housework/cleaning chore schedules, although Martha and I have used "Sidetracked Home Executives" for years. My goal this week is to put my kids to work more =)

Also... YEAH for taking the big step with the credit cards. It has been hard for us, but has really helped with budgeting!

hey - great minds think alike - I was gon to start something akin to this next sunday!
and January's book IS the Bonesetter's Daughter - I'm only just into it, but with my "10 books a year" goal, I've gotta get cracking.

I also love that picture of your three kids. I think the same thing about the laundry all the time. I can BARELY manage it with a washer, what in the world would I do without one? I guess you only owned very few clothes back then.

What a sweet photo of all the kids together. You should hang a copy in each of their rooms; maybe it will give them a subliminal message to always be kind to each other! :) ~wish it were that easy!~

I am the happiest when I am able to find joy in simple things. Thanks for reminding me of some of those simple (yet wonderful) things.

I loved Bonesetter's Daughter. I am now reading (sort of, not really now that the baby is here) "Wild Swans" which is really interesting too.

Our credit cards are gone too and it is such a relief to not have to worry about that (they are hiding in case of emergencies, but we are working on our savings too, so that would be the first hit for emergencies.)

Okay, I am totally late in posting, 'cause I am not on-line every day, but here are my comments! :-)

Yes, Miles does look cute in cargo pants!

I don't think wemon did loads and loads of laundry by hand back in the day... they didn't have as much clothes or linens as we do!

And as fo the weekly housework cleaning/chore schedule, The book "The Creation Plan" by Betty Meyers (sp?) is great! I bought mine used on Amazon, but it is a great book with a good plan!

What is your new calling?
