Baseball rules.

There was a week that Miles and I had a lot of time to ourselves. Audrey was at Girls' Camp and Neal and Parker were at Scout Camp, so we went out to the Frisco Rough Riders' game! They are a minor league team that plays nearby. We sat right behind home plate next to a bunch of MLB scouts. It was pretty cool!

Miles with his Rangers team. They had an incredible season!

Miles and Parker both played on their league All-Star teams and they did awesome! Miles' team won the tournament! Here he is with some of his fellow Rangers: Britten, Jack and Maddox.

Flag Day

Every September, usually sometime around the 11th, our elementary school holds a beautiful patriotic ceremony just as the sun is coming up over the school. It's a wonderful sight! Here is Miles in the thick of it!

Miles' Ninth Birthday

We celebrated this wonderful boy for a few days. He had a couple of friends join us at NRH20, a fun water park nearby, then a couple of other friends come over for pizza and a Rangers game. He has so many great buddies, we are so grateful for that!

Fun times! We love you, Miles!

Pinewood Derby 2015

Miles had a great car this year: it was a wedge of cheese, and not only was it creative, it was super ultra fast! He had lots of success at the Pinewood Derby. Hooray!

Fun in February

My mom and dad came for a quick visit in February. We always love to see them!

Miles led the flag ceremony at the Pack Meeting, and got some awards, too!

Miles' Science Fair

Miles entered the school science fair again this year. We talked about a project that would be original and fun, and came up with this idea to test different methods of preserving flowers, in this case, tulips! I have always put a penny in the water when I buy tulips because I read once that it kept them from drooping. Miles put it to the test! He put the store's flower food in one vase, a penny in another and just plain water in another vase. It turned out that after five days, the flower food was the most effective in keeping the tulips from drooping! The penny was more effective than nothing at all, however. Moral of the story: I'm using the flower food AND a penny from now on! :)

Piano Recital

Audrey and Miles did a wonderful job playing in their Christmas piano recital. I love to hear their talents improve, and we adore Mrs. Vaughan, our teacher of over seven years now!

Big Week for Miles

Miles played George Washington in the Second Grade Musical production of The Eagle and the Turkey. Ok, he only had one line, but he was one of only two kids with a named part and a costume! Here he is with his friend, Harrison, who played Benjamin Franklin.

Just a couple of days later, Miles got glasses! Turns out he didn't see all that well. Poor dude! He loves his new frames, though, and he looks so very cute.

Miles' Baptism

Miles was baptized on September 6, with his friends Matthew and Cheyenne. It was a beautiful day, and we were so grateful that Bama and Pa, Aunt Martha and Uncle Mark were able to celebrate with us. We are so proud that Miles chose to follow Jesus Christ and be baptized. Yay!

Legos Galore!

Lego Ben

When we got home from Utah, Miles was inspired to make the Weis and Horn families out of Legos. They are treasures!

Later on, we went with some friends to Lego KidsFest, a super fun day-long convention for fans in Dallas. Oh, it was awesome!

Miles likes the retro 80s space legos, so he paid homage to that in the art gallery, and with his tshirt.

Miles and Matthew building.

They had a map of the United States on the ground, and kids could make special landmarks and have them placed on the map. Texas was really full, so we decided to help represent Utah by making Delicate Arch!

See it there, all by itself? Poor Utah.

The highlight of the day was when Miles got to build a spaceship and present it to a Lego Master Builder. Dan was so sweet to Miles, complimented him on his skills, and gave him some tips. It was pretty much a dream come true. Maybe I teared up a bit. :)
