I'm sure you're all familiar with the American Girl collection of dolls (and other things). Most little girls have dreams of owning these dolls. My neighbor, a grown woman who has one little boy, even receives the catalog. Well, when I was a girl, my sister and I had these dolls and we played with them for hours, read all the books, and had good old-fashioned dolly fun with them. The other day, we checked out Meet Felicity from the library. It was so fun to introduce Audrey to this magical, historical world. Old Felicity (passed down from my sister, Julianne) and Kirsten (mine) dolls are waiting in the attic for the day when Audrey is ready for them. Felicity is a redhead who loves horses. Audrey said, while we were reading the first chapter, "Is Felicity kind of like me?"I wonder how long Audrey will wait before we get them down . . .

she's old enough, and definitely mature enough. i say get it down already!
samantha is patiently waiting for mabel in our closet.
remember the day we got all your American Girl stuff down from the attic and OOOooed and AAAhhhed over how fun they are? Good thing you waited until I left to introduce Audrey to them, as every time I would come over you would find me in her room playing with your Kristen! I seriously love those books and dolls!
I can't wait to start this!
i have kirsten, too, and i'm looking forward to introducing ruby to her one day. :)
i was molly. maybe because none of my friends liked her. i ended up loving her and did turn out to be just like her.
i am so curious to see who gracie will be because i know nothing about any of the other dolls.
thanks for the blast from the past. i may go to the library today!
Santa brought Kit to Princess for Christmas this year. She adores her almost as much as I do. Princess is the same age as Audrey, I think(going into first grade). I love that I can focus on getting accessories and such for Kit as gifts for birthdays and holidays. It makes shopping simple and no more random toys to find places for. So fun! Cha-Cha got Bitty Baby for the same reason.
I think you'll have to get them down soon! Enjoy!
I don't remember them from when I was little...but there is a store in the Grove in Beverly Hills that is crazy huge. If she gets into it, you must take her there.
what are you waiting for? i agree with stephanie... get them down! i love the american girl dolls! so jealous!
ya, get them down!!! maybe as a reward for something? make her do lots of chores!!!! or maybe you could get them down just cause she is so stinkin smart and adorable?
I always feared I would be Molly, straight hair and glasses glued to my head, and longed to be Samantha, curly hair, Victorian, and no glasses. I loved those books. Having a girl just seems to get more fun.
i remember these dolls! what fun to dress them!
I can't wait to go through this with my P. I love having a girl. As Rach said, we didn't have these(I feel kind of left out/betrayed/weirded out that a family of 6 girls and a grandma who was completely fanatic about dolls didn't have these? I think I just answered my own query.
Elliott thought it was interesting that you hadn't gotten these out for Audrey yet, but it didn't seem like she was ever into dolls that much, was she? One reason she and Ethan get along so well!
It is fun to have a doll that looks like you, though, and that has a story with it. I am excited to take Emma to the store in Chicago. I am trying to talk Elliott into a trip up there for Emma's b-day to get her a bitty baby.
Because I have a love of history, I really love these dolls too, although I didn't have htem when growing up. Maybe I should get a couple for me... j/k
just fyi, for all of you who think i should give it to her now,
she currently shares a room with parker, which is already too full of stuff, and miles is prime age for completely ruining stuff like that. we're waiting until she has her own room and she can shut the door all day. :)
I remember when you and Steph got your dolls. What a wonderful Christmas present. Even had the furniture to go with them. What lucky ligttle girls. Didn't you and Steph have night gowns or dresses too? I don't remember.
Audrey will love them too when she has her own room and a place to put special things.
Love and Hugs

That is so sweet! I can't wait for the day when my little girl (6 mos.) is ready to read those books. Your little Audrey is one of the cutest red head girls I have ever seen...(and very smart, I hear!)
I didn't get my Molly doll (who looked like me with glasses and brown hair) until I was 10 or 11 I think. I do think they are better for older girls who don't have to share a room with younger siblings, especially if you want them to stay nice. I'm totally with you on not giving to Audrey yet.
My mom just sent Molly off to the American Girls "hospital" to have her cleaned, limbs attached more securely, and hair fixed. I think it was only $20 or something. She came book looking BRAND new, and she was dressed in a cute hospital gown and wrist band and carried a Get Well Soon balloon. Then my Mom dressed her up in her birthday outfit and gave her to me at my baby shower (since I'm about to have my first girl). Molly will stay up on a shelf or somewhere for many years, but it was such a joy to see her looking so lovely.
Ah yes, the American Girl dolls... I had Samantha when I was growing up. I loved the books, the dolls, the magazines-- such fun!
